The Natural Life Protection Area and Zoo, established by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality on an area of 1000 acres within the Burç Forests, is the largest zoo in Turkey and the Middle East, the third largest in Europe, and the fourth largest in the world. Gaziantep Zoo serves not only Gaziantep but also the entire region and Turkey with a total of 325 species and 7,100 animals. The Gaziantep Zoology and Nature Museum, which is the first and only one of its kind in a zoo in Turkey, is established on an area of 750 m². It opens the doors to a fantastic world where time is frozen, allowing visitors to see and learn about hundreds of animal species and specimens that have witnessed time from the past to the present, including extinct and endangered animals. In the Gaziantep Zoology and Nature Museum, a total of 700 animal specimens from 550 species, ranging from mammals to reptiles, birds to marine animals, are exhibited. The museum also showcases important animal skeletons of extinct species from the depths of history, attracting enthusiasts.
