The Griffon Vulture is a large vulture species from the family Accipitridae. The species measures 95-110 cm in length and has a wingspan of 230-265 cm. They weigh between 6 and 10 kg. With bald heads, broad wings, and short tails, they have the typical appearance of Old World vultures. They have a white-collared neck and a colorful beak. The rest of the body and wings are covered with dark feathers. Like other vultures, they feed on carrion. They find dead animals in open areas and eat them in flocks. While feeding, they make grunting and whistling sounds. They build their nests on cliff edges and steep places. They usually lay one egg and incubate it. The species is found in the rugged cliffs and mountains of Europe, North Africa, and Asia. They are mostly resident birds.
