The Golden Eagle is a large, brown eagle species from the family Accipitridae. Juveniles are nearly black, easily distinguished in flight by their white inner wings and tail base. They extend their head and neck forward, their wings narrow toward the body, and their tail is longer and not wedge-shaped like sea eagles. They mate for life, usually returning to the same nest each year, which is often in hard-to-reach places. Its call resembles that of a hawk, and another call sounds like a bark. They live in rocky mountains and mountainous forests. In flight, they are magnificent and graceful, capable of diving at speeds of up to 320 km/h when approaching prey, making them the second fastest bird after the peregrine falcon. Unlike other eagles, they raise their wings while gliding and circling.
