Elephants are large animals with long trunks, two elongated upper incisors, a tuft of hair at the end of their tails, and large ears. They feed on grass and thin tree branches. They drink a lot of water and do not chew cud. Despite their size, they are agile and good swimmers. There are two species of elephants: the Asian elephant and the African elephant. Their average lifespan is 70-80 years. They live in the forests and dense grasslands of Africa and South Asia. Elephants' ears help regulate body temperature by sweating. Large ears both fan them and assist with sweating. African savanna elephants regulate their body temperature by sweating through their ears.
