Their natural habitats include Central Africa and the southern regions of the Sahara Desert. It is one of the largest python species. An adult rock python can reach 6 meters in length and weigh up to 120 kg. They can live for 20–25 years. Rock pythons feed on rodents, mice, hamsters, and, as they grow, rabbits or poultry.
