The Indian Peafowl or blue peacock is a species of peafowl belonging to the family Phasianidae. It is a resident bird species found in the Indian subcontinent and is also the national bird of India. The species can be found in arid and semi-arid areas, scrublands, groves, and deciduous forests. Its food and nest are on the ground, but it roosts in the treetops. Although it usually feeds on seeds, it can sometimes eat insects, fruits, or reptiles.
