They live in flowing streams. These fish have a mate selection feature. Pairs that select each other always swim together. Their eggs are quite large compared to other aquarium fish. They are very devoted to their eggs and fry. The males’ forehead is flatter compared to females. The forehead becomes humped as the fish ages. Their length is 12–15 cm, and their height is 25–30 cm. They have specialized veil-like fins and are sensitive fish. Feeding them with live food is more suitable than dry food. They come in white, gray, and black colors. They lay eggs on plants in the natural environment and on plant-like materials in the artificial environment.
