Their body shape is elongated, and some may have whiskers around their mouths. They come in yellow, orange, or blue colors. Ecology: Most prefer fast-flowing waters, while some live in still water (lakes, ponds) or small water bodies (swamps, pits). They have a wide distribution in Asia. However, they are also found in Africa and North America. They are compatible fish. Dense vegetation is not preferred as it hinders movement. They spawn freely. The water temperature ranges between 20–24°C.
