
Hippopotamus is a large aquatic mammal that typically inhabits rivers, lakes, swamps, and wetlands. Also known as the hippo, it is scientifically classified as Hippopotamus amphibius. Despite their name, hippos are more closely related to whales and dolphins than to horses. An adult hippo stands about 1.50 meters tall at the shoulder, measures around 4.50 meters in length, and weighs between 2700 and 4500 kilograms.
